Special Focus - THE KIMBERLEY

In 2021, my partner and I spent an incredibe 6 week trip through the Kimberley of northwest Australia (an area 3 times larger than England). We experienced some truly amazing places, people and critters. The trip took us on the loop from Broome, on the bitumen, to Kununurra/Argyle (including 3 days at Purnululu NP), then back down on the dirt of the Gibb River Road to Broome (including making the big drive up to the stunning Mitchell Plateau), and then a week up the Dampier Peninsula (including an amazing one day trip to the Buccaneer Archipelago and the Horizontal Falls), then back to Broome and Eco Beach for some big down time to dust off all the red dust :-) I really cannot express how stunning this region of our amazing country is - it really is a true wilderness of unsurpassed beauty and diversity and I so so hope it stays that way for generations to come. And the huge ecological and anthropological importance of the region cannot be over-stated, we so do need to ensure it continues to be properly valued.
